Wii and the Holy Spirit?

Last year I bought the Wii game for my children. And honestly it did provide a unique bonding experience for our family. My wife and I liked playing the tennis game, while my 11 year old daughter and I played everything else. To my surprise my daughter actually beat me in several games such as bowling and boxing.

One interesting feature of the video game is the Mii feature. Players actually get to create characters as their virtual selves. The avatars or Miis can be made to look like their real life counterpart. Our family had a blast creating a Mii for each of us. I have one, my wife has one, and one Mii for each of my children.

My youngest daughter has her own Mii. Now my youngest daughter is 4 years old and she loves playing Wii, as long as she isn’t actually playing... This means she wants me to play for her. It would be her Mii character on TV but it would be me playing instead of her.

It would be so funny that she would invite her older sister, (who is 11) to play with her. But instead of my 4 year old playing, she would demand that I play for her. My 11 year old would cry out, “Unfair!” since she knew that I would beat her in almost every game (except bowling and boxing.)

When I would win using my 4 year old’s Mii, my youngest daughter would in turn be so happy, as if she herself won the game.

And then the revelation struck me....

That is what resting in the Lord is like. It is allowing the Lord to play our game, fight our fight, live our daily life. Allowing the enabling power of God to win our victories for us, to face our difficulties, make our decisions, endure the pain and run our race. When we are filled with the Holy Spirit we are resting in His power, and then NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE, THE BATTLE IS THE LORD’S, and IF GOD IS WITH US WHO CAN BE AGAINST US.

The world will be in wonder when we live this victorious life. The enemy and the world will cry unfair! Which is quite true, since if it us unfair for others, it means we are favored. It is the unmerited, unearned and undeserved favor of God.

When we win in Christ, we rejoice!
